The latest TV spot for James Gunn’s 2025 Superman film has stirred unexpected controversy—over Superman’s hair. In the new footage, David Corenswet’s Superman flies through a snowy landscape, and his hair moves wildly in the wind.
Fans quickly noticed the contrast between Superman’s unbothered face and his hair blowing as if caught in a wind tunnel. Some viewers found this detail distracting, breaking their suspension of disbelief in a movie about a flying alien with laser eyes.
Rumors spread online that CGI was used on Superman’s face. However, director James Gunn clarified on social media that no CGI was applied. He explained the scene was filmed using practical effects, with Corenswet in costume facing a strong fan in a real snowy location.
Gunn suggested the realistic hair movement reflects how unnatural flying really is—Superman’s hair is not immune to wind, even if his face remains calm. He jokingly offered a new tagline for the movie: “You will believe a flying man’s hair can move.”
