The Met Gala is known for bold fashion and unforgettable beauty statements, and singer Tyla fully embraced the moment at the 2025 event with a striking new hair transformation. Instead of focusing solely on couture, Tyla made headlines with her fresh golden blonde hair and vintage-inspired styling.
This year marked Tyla’s second appearance at the iconic event. In 2024, she wowed in a Balmain gown crafted from sand. For 2025, she chose a shimmering off-the-shoulder Jacquemus gown, complete with a dramatic cape and a classic Old Hollywood silhouette.
Her hairstyle was a clear tribute to Black icons of the past. Celebrity hairstylist Yusef drew inspiration from legends like Josephine Baker, Lena Horne, and Joyce Bryant. “Joyce was the blueprint: bold, glamorous, and unapologetically provocative,” he said. “Every sculpted wave and glossy finish in Tyla’s look was a tribute to that fearless spirit.”
Tyla’s signature short pixie cut was transformed into soft, golden honey curls that glowed against her white pinstripe gown and sparkling diamonds. Yusef used OGX Bond Protein Repair Sealing Serum to prepare her hair and set it in rollers to create classic waves. After cooling the style, he added OGX Heat Protectant Spray to give it moisture, shine, and softness. As a final touch, he misted her hair with Parfums de Marly perfume to “wrap the look in luxury.”
Makeup legend Pat McGrath completed the look with a smoky eye in warm nudes and deep browns, drawing on the elegance of Dorothy Dandridge, Jean Harlow, and Baker. Using her Skin Fetish: Sublime Perfection System, McGrath gave Tyla glowing skin and shaped brows for a modern Hollywood finish.
Together, the team created a timeless yet contemporary Met Gala look—one that honored the past while celebrating Tyla’s unique star power.
