Rachel Zegler is embracing a bold new era, trading in her signature dark hair for a striking blonde transformation. The West Side Story and Hunger Games star surprised fans on June 7 when she appeared in London with a bleach-blonde bob, marking a dramatic shift from her well-known look.
Zegler, who is set to star as Eva Perón in the upcoming Evita revival, channeled Old Hollywood glamour during a performance of “Don’t Cry For Me Argentina” outside the London Palladium. Dressed in a white strapless ballgown with a fitted bodice and full skirt, she completed the look with a sparkling crystal necklace.
The actress’s new hairstyle featured a soft blonde lob styled in voluminous pin curls, with the front brushed into a sleek, half-up wave reminiscent of Marilyn Monroe and Grace Kelly. She appeared to have lightened her eyebrows to match the icy tone of her hair. Zegler finished the look with a berry-toned lipstick and lavender eyeshadow, further enhancing the vintage aesthetic.
Though it is unclear whether the transformation is a permanent dye job or a wig, the change signals a clear departure from her previous roles, including the live-action Snow White, where her character famously had hair “black as ebony.”
Zegler’s upcoming role in Evita is one of the most anticipated performances of the season. She will take the stage at the London Palladium from June 14 through September 6.
