Cannes, May 2025 — Kristen Stewart revealed a striking new hairstyle and a daring outfit at the Cannes Film Festival, where she premiered her directorial debut, The Chronology of Water.
The actress-turned-director added a soft pink dip-dye to her bleached blonde hair, wearing it in a tousled updo that showed off the bright strands and her new choppy bangs. Her bold hair transformation matched her head-to-toe pink outfit.
Styled by Tara Swennen, Stewart wore a pale pink Chanel ensemble featuring a short-sleeve tweed cardigan, matching shorts, and a sheer pink maxi skirt layered on top. She completed the look with pink heels, a diamond choker, and silver rings.
Her outfit may have pushed the boundaries of Cannes’ newly tightened fashion rules, which restrict sheer and overly dramatic styles. However, Stewart is no stranger to challenging conventions on the red carpet.
The Chronology of Water is a biographical romantic drama based on the memoir by author Lidia Yuknavitch. Stewart co-wrote the film with Andy Mingo.
“It became a sacred text for me overnight,” Stewart told Vanity Fair, describing how deeply the book resonated with her. “It’s about repossessing your voice through your body, and just how you process that as a woman in this motherfucking day and age. And that’s not easy right now.”
Her appearance at Cannes follows a quiet wedding ceremony in Los Angeles, where she married screenwriter Dylan Meyer less than a month ago.
