Shanghai, May 18, 2025 — A Shanghai woman’s unexpected encounter with actor Daniel Wu has gone viral, after she discovered the star washing her hair at a local salon.
The 50-year-old actor is currently in the city filming a short video series in which he tries 100 different jobs. One of those jobs led him to work as a shampoo assistant at the salon.
The woman shared her story online, saying her usual hairstylist had asked a “new staff member” to help due to a packed schedule. She noticed the man’s unfamiliar accent but was struck by his courteous and professional manner. It wasn’t until the session ended and he removed his face mask that she realized the assistant was Daniel Wu. She described the encounter as an “incredible stroke of luck.”
Daniel Wu, known for his leading roles in film and modeling, has long been admired for his good looks and charismatic presence. Often referred to as “Asia’s leading face,” he has recently shifted focus to creative projects such as street photography and now this new job-based series.
Though his photography work drew mixed reactions online, with some confusing him for an “old man,” his latest venture has reignited public interest and won praise across social media.
