Brie Larson has debuted a striking new look, drawing inspiration from Mia Farrow’s iconic hairstyle in Rosemary’s Baby. The actress shared her fresh bleach-blonde pixie cut in a set of Instagram selfies on Monday, captioning the post with a simple, emoji-filled message.”
Larson, best known for her role in Captain Marvel, first buzzed off her honey-colored hair late last year to prepare for her role in a West End production of Elektra. In her new post, she poses in a black Rodarte dress that was previously worn by actress Kirsten Dunst. The sleeveless outfit features a high neckline and a satin skirt, paired with red Chloe Gosselin heels, a gold cabochon ring, and delicate diamond earrings.
The pixie cut has long been a bold beauty statement, famously popularized by Mia Farrow in 1967’s Rosemary’s Baby. Though Farrow was photographed getting her hair cut by celebrity stylist Vidal Sassoon as a promotional move for the film, she later revealed she had actually cut it herself two years earlier while filming the television series Peyton Place.
In a 2012 interview following Sassoon’s death, Farrow clarified the timeline. In her 1997 memoir What Falls Away, she described how the crew reacted to the sudden change. “The hairdresser was aghast, and the producers were upset, and people with wigs were summoned,” she wrote. “It looked fine to me.”
Larson has also shared glimpses of her stage work on social media. A few months ago, she posted a behind-the-scenes video of her Elektra rehearsals. The show concluded in April.
“I had never been in a rigorous rehearsal process before, and the play we created is wholly unique,” she wrote. “Working with this incredible team has changed my life. We built this show together and love performing it. We are a lucky bunch!”
