SZA Shines in Debut Super Bowl Halftime Show with Kendrick Lamar

by lily

SZA made her Super Bowl Halftime Show debut alongside Kendrick Lamar at Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans, delivering a high-energy performance that marked a major moment in her career. The pair performed “Luther” and “All the Stars,” showcasing their musical chemistry as they prepare for their upcoming Grand National Tour, which kicks off April 19 in Minneapolis and will cover 23 cities across the U.S. and Canada.

For the big event, SZA wore her signature voluminous curls, which were styled with extra length and colored a rich deep auburn. Her longtime hairstylist Devante Turnbull created the look using Redken Color Fusion in shade 6RR. “We kept the volume and texture she loves while adding a bold twist,” Turnbull told Allure.

To protect SZA’s hair after the color treatment, Turnbull used the K18Repair Service, a salon-exclusive process designed to strengthen and repair. “It helps preserve her curl pattern, even after bleach or color,” he said. He styled her hair using GHD curling wands in different sizes to achieve soft, varied ringlets for a textured finish.

Makeup artist Deanna Paley complemented SZA’s hair with shimmering pink eye makeup, dramatic eyeliner, and fluttery lashes. She added a bright white shadow to the inner corners of the eyes to catch the stage lights. “This was such a monumental moment, so I wanted her makeup to feel timeless yet powerful,” Paley explained. The look featured radiant skin, soft blush, and SZA’s signature cat-eye.

Paley used products from Charlotte Tilbury, including the Beauty Blush Wand in Pillow Talk Dream Pop, Beauty Light Wand in Pillow Talk Medium, and Hot Lips Lipstick in Liv It Up. A setting spray kept everything in place for the high-energy show.

SZA wore a matching red-toned leather outfit—jacket, lace tank, and pants—that mirrored her hair and tied in with the red, white, and blue color scheme of Lamar’s dancers.

Beyond the halftime show, SZA also released several new songs as part of the deluxe edition of her album Lana. In a pre-show video for Ulta Beauty, she teased the launch of her own lip product line, giving fans a first look at a pink gloss called Strawberry Jelly. The line is expected to launch “very shortly.”
