Blake Lively has long been admired for her signature blonde waves, from her early roles in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and Gossip Girl to her red carpet appearances today. Her warm “honey or apricot blonde” shade, paired with natural-looking darker roots, has become part of her beauty trademark. For years, though, the exact details of how she maintains her hair remained a mystery—until now.
In a recent interview tied to the launch of her new beauty brand, Blake Brown, Lively shared rare insight into her personal hair routine. While hairstylist Jennifer Yepez handles her styling and Rona O’Connor is responsible for her color—most recently for her role in It Ends With Us—Lively herself plays a hands-on role in caring for her hair.
“I really listen to my hair,” Lively said. “I don’t follow a strict routine, but I pay attention to how my hair responds to the weather, styling, and products.”
Lively’s haircare brand Blake Brown launched with eight products this past summer and quickly sold out at Target. Interestingly, the line does not include a conditioner. Lively explained that she doesn’t use one. Instead, she shampoos every three days and follows with a hair mask.
“Using a mask in place of conditioner isn’t such a bold idea to me,” she said. “It feels like a richer version of conditioner, not watered down. Since making that change, my hair has improved and stayed healthy for years.”
When her hair needs extra care, Lively uses the Blake Brown Milky Sandalwood Rich Reset Pre-Shampoo Mask. She applies it before washing, slicks her hair into a bun, runs errands, and then rinses it out later. “It’s a miracle reset,” she added.
With this rare look into her routine, Lively shows that low-maintenance can still mean high impact—especially when you know how to listen to your hair.
