In a new video posted to the official Instagram account of Cécred, her haircare brand, the singer spoke candidly about her childhood hair care routine with her father—revealing for the first time that she has struggled with the condition since she was young.
“One of my fondest memories growing up was my dad putting my medicine on my scalp,” she said. “I have a very dry scalp—I have psoriasis that I’ve struggled with since I was a kid.”
Scalp psoriasis is a chronic skin condition that causes red, scaly patches on the scalp. According to the Cleveland Clinic, it often leads to itching and flaking. While there is no cure, symptoms can be managed with treatments that include over-the-counter shampoos containing salicylic acid or zinc pyrithione—ingredients commonly used to treat dandruff.
Beyoncé’s admission is part of a growing trend among celebrities becoming more open about their beauty journeys.
