Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has launched his own men’s shampoo as part of his new skincare line, Papatui, now available at Target. The line includes both skincare products and shampoo for men. Johnson aims to change the negative stigma around men’s grooming products.
In a recent interview with People, Johnson said that while men often talk openly about workouts, recovery, and other topics, skincare is still treated as a private or awkward subject. “So many times I would say, ‘Dude, why are we whispering [about skincare]? It’s okay,’” he explained. He hopes Papatui will encourage more open conversations about men’s grooming and skincare.
Since the launch, many TikTok users have shared videos of themselves finding Johnson’s shampoo at Target. Some videos joked about the irony of a bald man selling shampoo. One TikTok clip showed Johnson’s photo next to the shampoo with the quote, “My hair would’ve loved this 2-in-1,” highlighting the humor.
Comments reflected the irony too. One read, “We truly do live in a clown show. They have a bald man selling shampoo.” Another user shared a video with her boyfriend, saying, “Boy, this man has no business in the shampoo department. And here he is advertising his Papatui.” She added she found it funny but wouldn’t promote the product herself.
Alongside his product launch, Johnson received praise for his respectful behavior on The Drew Barrymore Show. Earlier this year, Barrymore dressed up as Johnson in a humorous tribute. During the show, she asked if he could do five squats with her on his back. Johnson agreed and made sure Barrymore was comfortable before lifting her, asking, “Is that cool?”
Johnson’s new shampoo and skincare line, along with his approachable attitude, continue to shape his public image beyond his acting and wrestling career.
