Michelle Yeoh made a bold style statement at the Los Angeles premiere of Wicked, swapping her usual long locks for a striking blonde bob. Known for her sleek or softly curled hairstyles, the Oscar-winning actor embraced a dramatic transformation that drew inspiration from the campy spirit of the film.
Yeoh plays Madame Morrible, the Dean of Sorcery Studies, in the upcoming Wicked movie. In the film, she wears an icy silver updo reminiscent of the character’s look in the Broadway production. But for the red carpet, she opted for something completely different.
Hairstylist Renato Campora created the voluminous, chin-length bob, giving it soft, fluffy waves for extra bounce and glamour. “We decided on this more exaggerated look because of the campiness that Wicked is,” Campora said. “We kept it short, modern, and voluminous.”
The color featured a blend of blonde tones, including light butter blonde, wheat, and an ashy blonde root for dimension. Campora used Wella Professionals EIMI Body Crafter spray at the roots and mid-lengths, then blow-dried the hair in sections and set it in pincurls. After the curls cooled, he brushed them out and finished the style with Wella’s Stay Firm Hair Spray and Glam Mist for hold and shine.
Campora styled the bob with a deep side part for an “elegant and angular silhouette.” The front curl swept across Yeoh’s face in a soft S-shape, framing her cheekbones and flipping out at the ends for added flair.
Yeoh paired her bold hairstyle with a sparkling black Balenciaga gown, a soft pink lip and blush, fluttery lashes, and a dramatic diamond choker. The look was both modern and magical—just the kind of red-carpet moment Madame Morrible herself would applaud.
