Vivian Wilson, the 21-year-old daughter of Elon Musk, has made her modeling debut in a Pride Month campaign for queer-owned fashion brand Wildfang. The campaign marks a significant step for Wilson, who has become increasingly vocal in the public eye since coming out as transgender in 2020.
In the campaign, Wilson wears a white T-shirt with the message “Existing Shouldn’t Be Revolutionary.” She co-designed the shirt with Wildfang CEO Emma McIlroy. The proceeds from the shirt will support The Trevor Project, a nonprofit focused on suicide prevention for LGBTQ+ youth.
Speaking to People, Wilson said she wanted the shirt to feel authentic and not like a marketing slogan. After several discussions with McIlroy, the phrase clicked. “It was just like, ‘Oh, okay, this is perfect. Love it. Let’s just go with that,’” she said.
McIlroy praised Wilson’s role in the campaign. “Vivian represents everything we believe in: bravery, brilliance, and bold self-expression,” she said in a press release. “This campaign gave us the chance to celebrate Vivian—her name, her power, her style, and the inspiration she provides to the queer community.”
The campaign visuals are equally striking. In one image, Wilson wears purple trousers and black Dr. Martens with the T-shirt. In another, she appears with a 40-foot braid spelling out her name, paired with a black vest, Bermuda shorts, and a printed shirt. “I saw myself in the mirror, and I was kind of like, ‘Oh, s—t, I’m gorgeous,’” she told People.
In a third look, Wilson poses next to vintage televisions while wearing a floral suit, matching tie, and white shirt. Her image and name appear on the screens behind her.
Wilson has used her platform to advocate for trans rights and often speaks out against her father. In a Teen Vogue cover story earlier this year, she referred to Musk as a “pathetic man child.” She continues to participate in fundraising efforts for LGBTQ+ causes and recently walked the runway at a “RuPaul’s Drag Race” event.
“I’m always going to be vocal because it is who I am,” Wilson said. “I’ve got to be a trans woman. Obviously, I’m never going to shut the f—k up… I can’t say that.”
