All eyes were on the red carpet at the Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning premiere on Wednesday, May 14, but it was Andie MacDowell who stole the show with a dramatic new hairstyle.
Known for her signature long, silver curls, MacDowell surprised fans with a sleek and androgynous look. Her hair was styled into a faux cropped cut, smoothed and pinned to create the illusion of a short, boyish hairstyle. A soft side fringe added to the transformation, which perfectly complemented her tailored tuxedo.
The look was completed with oversized lapels, a large bow tie, and glittering heels — a blend of masculine structure and feminine elegance.
“Andie’s hair is the perfect match for her sharp trouser suit,” said GH Beauty Director Lynne. “It’s a bold shift for someone known for flowing rom-com curls.” She noted that faux chops are trending right now, offering a temporary change without the commitment of an actual cut.
Celebrities like Nicole Kidman and Frankie Bridge have also embraced faux hairstyles recently. Kidman sported a pixie-style wig at the Met Gala, while Bridge wore a clip-in micro fringe to the BAFTAs. “It’s a great way to try something new without the fear of regret,” Lynne added. “Andie looks incredible with her Cannes crop. Her bone structure could pull off anything.”
Actress Eva Longoria also admired the new look. She walked the red carpet with MacDowell, cheering her on as the veteran actress posed, danced, and threw peace signs for the cameras.
The red carpet event was part of the Cannes Film Festival, where stars gathered for the screening of the latest Mission: Impossible installment. Cast members including Tom Cruise and Hannah Waddingham were in attendance. Waddingham dazzled in a strapless Elie Saab gown covered in floral sequin embroidery. She paired it with strappy heels and bold sunglasses, embracing the glamour of the French Riviera.
