Hair loss and baldness become more common as men age. While some of it is genetic and unavoidable, there are ways to prevent further hair loss and improve hair health. Speaking to GB News, Ben Davis, founder of The Gents Place, shared expert tips on how specific products and techniques can help maintain a thicker, healthier mane.
Davis emphasized the importance of using oils and the right shampoos for promoting hair growth. He suggested that massaging oils like rosemary or tea tree oil into the scalp could encourage growth. “Massage it regularly — this boosts blood flow to the hair follicles and promotes growth,” he said.
A 2015 study published by the National Library of Medicine found that rosemary oil could help protect against hair loss. Tea tree oil is also known to strengthen hair and reduce frizz. Davis recommends using these oils weekly, or more frequently if needed.
In addition to oils, Davis warned that using the wrong shampoo could harm hair health. He advised choosing sulfate-free products, which are gentler on the hair. “Many shampoos are too harsh and strip the hair of its natural oils. Sulfate-free shampoos, designed specifically for men, nourish and protect hair,” he explained.
Finally, regular haircuts can improve the appearance of hair thickness by managing split ends. Davis encouraged men to maintain good grooming habits, saying, “Regular trims keep split ends in check, and with the right products and techniques, you’re on the path to healthier hair.”
