Ciara has taken long hair to a new level—literally. While vacationing in the Dominican Republic this week, the 38-year-old singer revealed waist-to-water braids that appear nearly as long as her five-foot-seven frame.
In a video shared on social media, Ciara walks into the ocean wearing a deep purple swimsuit, with her extra-long brunette braids trailing behind her. The dramatic new look marks a major change from her previous hairstyle—a blonde and pink messy bun she wore just days earlier.
Fans were quick to react. One joked, “I know them braids took 40 days and 40 nights to finish!” Others praised Ciara for confidently showing off her postpartum body. One comment, which received more than 10,000 likes, read: “You are showing your beauty before, during, and after pregnancy and empowering women and mommies everywhere!”
Ciara, a mother of four, has often shared her love for hairstyling. In an April 2020 Instagram post featuring her braiding her children Future and Sienna’s hair, she wrote, “I used to want to own hair salons when I was younger. It’s fair to say doing hair is still one of my passions. Mommy’s Braids.”
Though the Grammy-winning artist likely had help achieving her current head-turning look, her hairstyling skills are well documented. As her youngest, baby Amora, grows up, she might soon be the next lucky client in Ciara’s personal salon.
For now, between her growing family and almost six feet of braids, Ciara clearly has her hands—and hair—full.
