Meghan Markle recently unveiled a subtle yet striking change to her signature brunette hair. Attending an outdoor event in Canada last week, the Duchess of Sussex appeared with a noticeably warmer tone to her usual hairstyle—something that quickly caught the attention of fans and beauty watchers.
Now, her longtime hairstylist has confirmed the transformation. Los Angeles-based colorist Kadi Lee revealed on Instagram that Markle is now wearing a “chocolate chestnut brunette” shade. The new color debuted during the one-year countdown celebration for the 2025 Invictus Games.
“This mixture of red and golden undertones makes a dynamic shade of brunette,” wrote Lee’s salon, Highbrow Hippie, in a post on February 20. “It not only gives skin a healthy glow—especially during the colder months—but also adds a high-power shine to the hair.”
The change has been well received. Comments on the Instagram post praised Markle’s updated look, with fans calling it “absolutely stunning” and admiring the rich tone and shine. One user wrote, “This color is giving everything it’s supposed to give.”
In addition to the new color, Markle’s voluminous curls were the result of what the salon described as the “bounciest, long lasting blowout” by stylist Hector Garcia. According to the post, the blowout held up from Los Angeles to Canada.
Though Markle has always stayed within the brunette range, her hair has seen several updates over the years—from experimenting with center parts to sleek buns and soft waves. Before this most recent update, Lee had colored her hair a “shiny rich chocolate brown” for the Variety Power of Women event in November 2023.
The new chestnut tone continues Markle’s trend of subtle, elegant style shifts—balancing modern touches with timeless appeal.
