George Clooney made headlines earlier this year when he dyed his hair brown for his role in the Broadway adaptation of Good Night, and Good Luck. The transformation sparked plenty of reactions—including from his wife, Amal Clooney. But on June 8, the actor brought back his familiar style, showing off his natural salt-and-pepper hair at the 2025 Tony Awards.
Clooney appeared at Radio City Music Hall looking sharp. His sides were fully silver again, while the top still had a hint of brown. He wore a classic black tuxedo, paired with a white dress shirt, black bow tie, and black dress shoes.
The evening doubled as a date night for the Clooneys. Amal wore an elegant white gown with a structured, off-the-shoulder neckline and a form-fitting silhouette. The ankle-length dress was covered in luxurious pearl detailing. She completed the look with matching pointed-toe heels and a shiny clutch.
Amal styled her caramel-colored hair in soft, voluminous waves. Her makeup featured rosy tones, including a peach lip, defined brows, and shimmering eyeshadow.
Clooney, nominated for Best Performance by a Lead Actor in a Play for his role as Edward R. Murrow, had already hinted at his return to natural hair. Appearing on Late Night With Seth Meyers last week, he said he would revert back to his usual look after his final performance on June 8—the same day as the Tonys.
“The last show is Sunday,” Clooney said. “We do a matinee, and then by the time we go to the Tonys that night, it’ll be gone.”
He admitted he wasn’t a fan of the dyed hair. “It really looks bad,” he joked. “Like I’m going through some horrible midlife crisis. I’m 64—midlife is a little stretch.”
Clooney also revealed his wife agreed with that sentiment. “My wife hates it,” he said in a CNN interview with Jake Tapper. “She says, ‘It’s not a good look on you.’”
