Ruth Jones lit up the red carpet at the BAFTA Awards last night, taking home the award for Best Female Performance in a Comedy for her role in Gavin & Stacey. Her heartfelt acceptance speech moved many, but it was her striking new look that truly caught the spotlight.
Jones appeared to draw inspiration from her character Nessa, debuting a hair color reminiscent of Nessa’s signature dark locks. Though the style itself differed—trading Nessa’s bob for a sleek, tousled bun—the deep, almost-black hue created a strong connection. Loose strands framed her face, adding a touch of effortless elegance to the look.
Her makeup matched the glamour of her hairstyle. With radiant skin, shimmering gold eyeshadow, and a softly smudged lash line, Jones achieved a classic soft-glam finish. She completed the ensemble with a puff-sleeve blue gown by Rosa Clara, which beautifully highlighted her eyes.
Fans were quick to praise her transformation. On her stylist Stevie B Shindler’s Instagram post, one follower commented, “Incredible. She’s never looked better!” Another wrote, “Oh wow!!!!!! Absolutely stunning!!!!! ”
Jones wasn’t the only star showcasing a new look at the BAFTAs. Presenter Alex Jones surprised with long, boho-inspired hair, swapping out her usual lob. Frankie Bridge, formerly of The Saturdays, debuted a bold micro fringe reminiscent of Audrey Hepburn. Meanwhile, Claudia Winkleman poked fun at her signature eye makeup with a playful beauty twist.
The BAFTA Awards proved to be a night of standout performances—and standout style.
