Kelly Rizzo is entering what she calls her “resilience era.” Speaking with Yahoo Life for its Unapologetically series, the Eat Travel Rock host opened up about navigating life after 40 and how loss has reshaped her perspective.
Rizzo, who turns 46 on May 19, became a widow in 2022 after the sudden death of her husband, Full House star Bob Saget, at age 65. His passing, she says, changed how she views aging and the way she approaches each day.
“Losing Bob gave me a different perspective,” Rizzo shared. “I remember him saying, ‘I’m done suffering.’ That mantra stuck with me, and I carry it with me now.”
For Saget, choosing joy meant savoring life’s comforts — whether it was enjoying a great meal or staying in a nicer hotel room. These small luxuries, Rizzo says, were part of how he prioritized his mental well-being, and she’s adopted a similar mindset in her healing process.
Despite the challenges of the past few years, Rizzo says she has held onto a “youthful spirit” and continues to move forward with strength and intention.
