Lana Del Rey surprised fans with a fresh new look during her performance at the Stagecoach Music Festival in Indio, California, on Friday, April 25. The 39-year-old singer swapped her signature honey blonde hair for rich brunette curls, styled in bouncy waves and parted to the side. She completed her look with a butter yellow lace dress, tied at the waist with a satin ribbon.
Earlier this month, Del Rey teased her hair transformation on Instagram. On April 11, she shared a photo showing her darker hair tucked behind her ears as she rested her head on a pillow.
While Del Rey has gone brunette before, she had been wearing a dark blonde shade for some time. At the Variety Hitmakers Brunch in December 2024, she styled her blonde-highlighted hair into Old Hollywood curls.
During her Stagecoach set, Del Rey also debuted a new song called “57.5,” where she revealed a surprising story. In the lyrics, she claimed she once kissed country singer Morgan Wallen. Before performing the song, she told the crowd, “This will be the last time I’m ever going to say this line.”
“I kissed Morgan Wallen / I guess kissing me kind of went to his head,” she sang. “If you want my secret to success / I suggest don’t go ATVing with him when you’re out west.”
The timing of the kiss remains unclear. A representative for Wallen, 31, did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
Del Rey has also been teasing another new track called “Bluebird,” which she explained in a video on Instagram. She shared that the song uses a bluebird as a symbol for self-healing. Reflecting on the inspiration, Del Rey recalled a moment when a small bird flew into her bedroom window just before she was about to meet an old flame. The emotional experience stayed with her and inspired the ballad.
“Bluebird” will be part of Del Rey’s upcoming country album. Although she originally announced the album would be titled Lasso, she recently revealed that she plans to change the name. In another Instagram video discussing the song “Henry Come On,” she hinted at the update.
“I do have a lot more to say,” Del Rey said. “Should I even tell you that the name changed again? Maybe I’ll wait.”
