A British man has taken an unconventional route to saving money—by flying abroad for a haircut. Faced with a £36.50 quote at a local barber shop, content creator Hamza (@briaklii) decided that was too steep. Instead of finding a cheaper option nearby, he booked a £15 Ryanair flight to Morocco.
In a video that has gone viral with over 7.8 million views, Hamza documents his journey. He first took a £3 train ride to Stansted Airport, then flew to Morocco, where his uncle picked him up and brought him to his family’s home. There, Hamza hailed a taxi for just 80p and visited a local barber.
The haircut—a neat low taper fade—cost only 20 Moroccan dirhams, about £1.60. In total, his entire trip, including transport and haircut, cost just over £20.
While he had the advantage of free lodging and airport pickup, the low cost of the haircut amazed viewers. Hamza declared, “This proves that in life you have to think smart and not hard.”
Reactions online were mixed. Some praised his creativity and noted he even got to see his grandmother. Others argued he could have saved more by going to a Turkish barber nearby.
Despite the debate, Hamza’s video highlights how high living costs in the UK are driving people to think far outside the box when it comes to everyday expenses.
