Vera Wang Wows at 2025 Met Gala in Striking Feathered Gown

Fashion icon Vera Wang turned heads at the 2025 Met Gala on Monday, May 5, arriving at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City wearing an eye-catching custom gown and signature sunglasses.

The 75-year-old designer debuted a bold hairstyle featuring baby bangs, a standout change that added to her striking look. Her ensemble, designed by her own fashion house, featured a light ivory Italian cupro jersey gown with a dramatic low cowl neckline. The design included a gray feather-appliquéd skirt and black feather lapels, blending elegance with an avant-garde edge.

Wang wasn’t alone on the red carpet. She accompanied actress and singer Keke Palmer, who also wore a Vera Wang creation. Palmer’s outfit drew inspiration from trailblazing performer Dorothy Dandridge and reflected the evening’s theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.” Her look combined a structured white tuxedo-style gown with feminine accents.

Speaking to Vogue, Palmer described the design as “a little masculine with a feminine tribute.” She explained, “I wanted to inhabit tailoring but also honor Black culture—how fashion has helped us access spaces where we were often excluded. That’s why I chose to channel Dorothy Dandridge, who opened doors for us with her beauty and style.”

Wang’s Met Gala appearance comes just months after she made a splash at the 2025 BAFTA Awards in London. There, she revealed a shorter hairstyle and once again kept her signature sunglasses on for red carpet photos.

A Met Gala veteran, Wang has previously walked the iconic steps alongside celebrities such as Janelle Monáe in 2024, Ariana Grande in 2018, and Selena Gomez in 2015.

In addition to her red carpet success, Wang has continued to expand her business. In March, she announced a new collaboration with Jared Jewelers, launching Vow, a line of engagement and anniversary rings. The collection, which includes both natural and lab-grown diamonds, was inspired by 1970s ring styles.

“When I was young, it was common for women to wear their engagement ring and wedding band clipped together,” Wang told PEOPLE. “But as lifestyles changed, so did how women wore their rings. Even if you treasure your engagement ring, you may not want to wear it every day.”
