Meghan Markle recently shared a funny and relatable hair mishap from the early days of the pandemic on her podcast, Confessions of a Female Founder. The Duchess of Sussex recalled trying to dye her hair at home using boxed dye while she and her family were staying at a friend’s house in California.
Hoping for a look similar to the model on the box, Markle ended up with dark, almost black hair that she described as reminiscent of the character Elvira.
Markle explained how she met hair colorist Kadi Lee through renowned stylist Serge Normant, who did her hair for her wedding. “We became friends after that,” Markle said. “At the time, my family had just moved to California, and we were staying in our friend’s house. Because of the pandemic, I kept ordering boxed dye and thought, ‘I’m going to look just like the model on the box.’”
However, the result was far from what she expected. “Instead, I ended up with this very inky, almost Elvira-esque black hair,” Markle laughed. “So I texted Serge, and he said, ‘You need to see Kadi.’”
Markle went on to describe how Lee came over to help, following all the necessary pandemic precautions. “I remember that day so well,” she added.
