Alex Jones turned heads at the 2025 BAFTAs, revealing a dramatic new hairstyle that swapped her usual long bob for flowing, glossy waves. While many celebrities are embracing shorter cuts this season, the TV presenter went in the opposite direction with a boho-inspired look created just for the night.
Jones teased the transformation on Instagram, posting a behind-the-scenes photo from Mayfive Salon with the caption: “The transformation for #baftas starts.” The style, created by Mayfive founder Katie Allan, featured long extensions paired with curtain bangs, echoing a Stevie Nicks-style glamour.
“We wanted a bohemian look,” said Allan in an exclusive with Good Housekeeping. The finished style was complemented by a subtle colour refresh a few days earlier. “We matched her usual colour and added soft caramel highlights to enhance her brunette base,” Allan explained.
Despite the red carpet glamour, the look was only temporary. In a follow-up Instagram post, Jones admitted the transformation was for one night only, writing, “It takes a village to get ready for a night like this… It was fun to grow my hair long for one night only .”
The transformation was achieved using clip-in wefts from Milk and Blush. Allan described the process: “I sectioned off the hair, backcombed the rows, and used a styling dust to create a base for the clips.” Because Jones has naturally thick hair, Allan removed some weight beforehand to ensure a seamless blend.
For those trying extensions at home, Allan offered a tip: “Make sure your base line is hidden. If you don’t want to thin the hair, you can tie up the bottom layer in a bun at the nape so it stays out of sight.”
Jones’s one-night-only long locks may not be permanent, but they certainly made a lasting impression on the red carpet.
