For years, Hip-Hop star and Drink Champs host N.O.R.E. was known for his signature bald look. His smooth, raspy flow and larger-than-life personality made the style iconic. However, a trip to Paris in early 2023 changed everything for him.
While sitting in a barber’s chair, N.O.R.E. noticed something unsettling: the barber’s blade had blood on it. This sight led him to decide against getting another haircut. “I wasn’t letting him touch my hair with that,” N.O.R.E. recalls. Instead, he allowed the barber to use clippers, but not the blade. This experience sparked a decision to let his hair grow out.
Having spent most of his career sporting a low Caesar cut, N.O.R.E. found seeing himself with hair both strange and exciting. Along with the new growth came grays, something he had never really considered before. That’s when he was introduced to Rewind It 10, a men’s beard and hair color brand co-founded by his close friend, Fat Joe, and the creators of Its A 10 haircare, Carolyn and Jeff Aronson.
Initially, it was about “trying something new,” but now N.O.R.E. has taken on a new role as the brand’s ambassador. “Joe don’t put his name on anything he doesn’t believe in,” N.O.R.E. said, affirming Fat Joe’s endorsement. He also expressed the lack of hair care options specifically for men. “You go to a CVS, and everything’s for women. We finally got a little section now,” N.O.R.E. explained. “The grays come in quick. You get a haircut on Monday, and by Wednesday, they’re back. So why not rewind time a little bit?”
Fat Joe, who also uses Rewind It 10, shared his frustration with other products in an interview with PEOPLE. “I’d been using other products because I’ve got a complex—I don’t like to see white hair on my beard—but they weren’t good,” he said. “They would only last two days, and people started clowning me on coloring.”
Joining N.O.R.E. as ambassadors for Rewind It 10 are other stars, including NFL star Travis Kelce, DJ Khaled, Tyson Beckford, and Nicky Jam. For N.O.R.E., being part of the brand goes beyond just hair—it’s about breaking stereotypes. Speaking on the use of wigs and toupees, N.O.R.E. said, “Whatever gets you up and makes you feel like the man, do it. Men like manicures and massages too. We want to be pampered, we want to feel like kings.”
Growing up in Queens, N.O.R.E. admired the legendary rap group ONYX, known for their iconic bald look. When asked who had the best bald head in the game, N.O.R.E. responded, “Gotta give it to Onyx.” Now, however, he’s embracing a short curly fade and says, “I’m growing it out now just to show people I got curls. I want to go natural. I’m just bugging out right now. I might do the JAY-Z/Nas thing and get dreads.”
