Elle Fanning Revives 2000s “Pouf” Hair with a Modern Twist

by lily

Elle Fanning took a stylish trip back to the early 2000s at the National Board of Review Annual Awards Gala in New York City on January 7. The actress brought back the iconic “pouf” hairstyle once popular among stars like Lindsay Lohan, Beyoncé, and the Olsen twins—but with a fresh 2025 update.

Instead of the big, teased volume typical of the 2000s, Fanning’s hairstylist Jenda Alcorn created a sleek, subtle pouf by pulling back a section of her straight blonde hair and pinning it at the crown. To complete the look, they added a delicate lilac bow that perfectly matched Fanning’s pastel purple and yellow chiffon dress and feathery pink coat.

Fanning’s modern take on the pouf avoids the over-the-top volume of the past, making the style feel fresh and elegant. She also recently showed how simple accessories can elevate a look, wearing a plain bobby pin to glamorously complement her wavy long bob while promoting A Complete Unknown.

The lilac bow is part of a growing trend among stars like Fanning and Demi Moore, proving the charming coquette aesthetic isn’t going anywhere in 2025.
